VIDEO GAMES LIVE CONCERT

When Dadda told mumsie that he had booked tickets for VIDEO GAMES LIVE Concert, mumsie thought OMG what's dat??? Then when mumsie realised that VGL is a gaming music event that has toured more than 10 countries mumsie begins to feel a sense of excitment for VGL! This is the first time this world's original and most sucessful video games concert is being held in Southeast Asia - ie in Singapore Indoor Stadium on 19th June 2009 - For one night only!!!
And if you are a gamer and you don't know what VGL is you ought to be shot!! Dadda booked the tickets on line...and if mumsie was around during the booking, the ticket won't be S$70/-Anyway VGL is a concert event put on by the video game industry to help to encourage and support the culture and art of video games.
So that day we wrapped up work early and armed with (courtesy of Kor-kor) a GPS we rushed across the Causeway to S'pore. Of course the place to visit first is Funan IT Mall . The place to go for computer products, as the mall is well known for housing the largest collection of computer and information technology stuff ! Here we are at Challenger Superstore which occupies almost the entirety of the sixth floor.. Computer games anyone???.....mumsie was told that this Mall is the largest in the region, where all the shops here sell computer hardware, software ect ect....

A "must enter" place for Dadda and Danny BoyHere Dadda got his latest computer games and magazine....Mumsie was hoping to have a nice dinner before the concert and as Chijmes is near Funan Mall.....the plan was to have dinner there then to the stadium..But Dadda refused to drive there so.....
we gotta to WALK...and it took quite a good 30 mins of brisk walking.... to and fro
Mumsie has never been to Chijmes but heard a bit about it...Chijmes was conserved as a national heritage site, it was once a convent school (CONVENT OF THE HOLY INFANT JESUS) and orphanage. Chijmes today is one of S'pore's premier wine and dine destinations offering exciting shopping , dining and drinking options..It also has one of mumsie's favourite Chinese Restaurant the Lei Garden other than European, Japanese, and American cuisine. Anyway because of time constraint we were not able to have our dinner there but was able to have a quick run round the place...

Didn't have time to get near to this restuarant so didn't know what is it???? Gotta run back to Funan Mall to get our car and rush to S'pore Indoor
Stadium
.... Managed to get there (all with the help of the GPS) in good time...and still manged to have a bite and drink at SUBWAY
Dadda munching his baguette style sandwich
Finger-licking goooood
Trying to take a nice photo of the subway cookie
Then into the stadium
There was a "best dress costume" contest and so this guy is one of the contestants
He is supposed to be this guy??????
But he didn't win the prize
Mumsie and Danny was able to take photo with him
She is supposed to be one of the Video Games Character but didn't catch the name of the character....
This is how she looked like from the back...
She didn't win either
Nope this is not the winner...
No no she is not the winner
Good try but still was not voted as the best
These fellas are very spotting...they pose when you point the camera at them
The winner....no not the 2 guys at the side It is the middle character...you won't know who he is cos he is underneath his costume..anyway he was the winner...
Then the biggest game contest of all time; Guitar Hero! At the foyer before the concert these fellas were competing with one another and the final 2 will get a chance to play Guitar Hero live on stage infront of thousands with the orchestra and Tommy Tallarico accompanying them . They played Sweet Emotion fro Guitar Hero and they were good....(Dadda will have to practise a few more years before he can reach their standard!)
Mumsie must admit that the final 2 were goooood
See we were early....the stadium is still empty??
Actiually the people are at the foyer enjoying themselves...
Mumsie climbing up to her $70/ seat... Prices are at S$115/- S$85/- S$70/- S$50/-

Other than the visual audio spectacle of Video Games Live, there will be the usual interactive segments that will see a lucky audience memberwho will be selected to get up on stage and role-play the heroic spaceship from Space Invaders, (one of mumsie's favorite games years and years ago) but mumsie was not that lucky...cos our seats were too far away to be picked.....A guy from New Zealand was picked but
he didn't win (should have picked mumsie)
Now the stadium is filling up!
And let the show begins..and it brings mumsie on a journey through more than 20 years of gaming culture-cos it played music (from a full ochestra and in S'pore -the NUS symphony and NUS Choir) of video games that mumsie used to play like Donkey Kong, Tetris, and PacMan.
The Music and Choir was very goooooooooood! Then they were several celebrities gracing the VGL. One of them is Martin Leung a 22 yrs old guy who originally blindfolded himself and played video games music like the classic Super Mario songs on the piano and then video it on U-TUBE...Thus he shot to fame and become "The Blindfolded Mario Pianist" Martin is currently part of the world tour Video Games Live. Live Music with synchronized ligting And it poured out the best music and video clips from the most popular video games which include Pong, Mario Sonic Final Fantasy and many many more..This is a special music event for Ninetendo, XBox and game fans (mumsie was wondering why Andrew Leong is missing from the concert!!!)
Actually this concert is created by Jack Wall who was the conductor of the orchestra for the evening and Tommy Tallarico , Guinness Record holder for prolificacy in video game composing. And Tommy was the MC for the show that evenig.

It really is an explosive audio-visual extravaganza
These are the finalists that went on stage that night for the audience to vote the best dressed character...
All these photos were taken by mumsie's camera
Even though we were seated quite far away mumsie is suprised that they turn out "not bad"
THE - END Look Dadda is carrying his special CAMERA...gotta go back to the car and drive back to JB. Even with Kor-kor's GPS we still took a few wrong "turns" and span through 1/2 of Singapore and managed to reach home well past midnight......well we did reach home safe-and sound..
